Game Asset Development
A Series of Individual Development Blogs based on the Practical Group Project Assessment
These blogs will detail the development process and creation behind original character's and environment's based on Polygon Treehouse's Röki. These blogs plan to show evidence of progressive planning and production of all the required elements specified in the character and environmental briefs. All of the assets produced will be distinguished within terms of originality, technical proficiency and presentation throughout the use of Autodesk Maya. The overall work will implement all aspects of the chosen brief for each individual and will accurately simulate an art style in which corresponds to Röki. Evidence will be shown to detail the critical analysis of the technical development and practice of the project. Visual and Contextual research will be included throughout all blogs as well as knowledge and feedback of the industry to enhance the groups artistic outputs. There will be well documented project management, time management and asset management between all members of the group. The group tasks will be shown to have been evenly distributed and well-executed to improve the overall development of the project.
In these blogs you will see an impressive use of lean and efficient 3D modelling for all the assets. All the assets will be fully UV'ed and textured with attention to details and organisation. All forms, textures and materials will accurately resemble Röki's existing art style with a clear visual reception from all angles. The scene and characters will be fully 3D and viewable from all angles with the exception of 2D decals or foregrounds which are used to enhance the perception of the 3D artwork. Scenes and Characters may also integrate the use of decals, effects and animations as a visually appealing embellishment and also as evidence of additional technical skills. The project files will be shown within the blog to expose our great organisational skills, suitable naming conventions as well as excellent logic and professional skills when delegating asset related tasks amongst the team.
